The story follows on from The Champion of Caldon (Book 6). Gavin and Jeni are determined to find a way to get into Tranida to lay waste to the Delver clans that are constantly trying to kill them and the Stone Pillar Islanders. They seem to be making good progress when Gavin senses that a friend needs help in Algratha. Soon all the Dragon Lords are battling against desperate odds in the forests of Northwest Algratha, where all forms of sorcery have been outlawed and punishable by death for generations.
