The story follows on from The Gypsy and the Magpie (Book 7). Gavin and Jeni are more determined than ever to deal with the menace of the demon controlling Delvers of Tranida and establish a base within Yunan to operate from. Gavin travels to Tungani Falls to put his case to a gathering of Yunan Admirals and Councilors and offer training against the likely Delver retaliation.
